Please be good. Please be good. Please be good. Please. Please… So I get done writing my review for the Wonder Woman trailer and I refresh YouTube and see this. And it’s not like I’m going to IGNORE the fucking Justice League!.. The difference is that I’m more excited for Wonder Woman. I’m scared for this. I’m still going to see it, I’m not out of my mind, but I feel like it’s too much too soon. Yes, when Avengers came out it was only four years after Iron man and this is only three years of Man of Steel. However, there were five movies before Avengers that were all very good. Before this there is a shitty Superman movie, a shitty collaboration movie, and 2 that haven’t even been released yet. All I’m saying is there is every right to be VERY concerned about this and how quickly it was rushed… On to the trailer though! It opens very dark and gritty, which is expected, but, what was unexpected was the tone change to Icky Thump, and that brought a smile to my face!.. We have our glimpse of Aquaman and I am IMPRESSED. Thats not even sarcasm! Throughout this trailer he is just a bad ass and I love it.We then move on to The Flash, who finally addresses the “man sitting in dark introduces himself cliche” and I was sold more… Thats where I stop being impressed though. This trailer starts off strong with Batman recruiting the League for some massive evil that is coming for them, and I rather enjoy that premise. On top of that Batman’s and Wonder Woman’s suits are amazing… Then we spend an entire minute with The Flash and it cuts to the shittiest suits of Flash and Cyborg anyone could ever think up… And then its over… Just over. I know I will probably get flack for this but after the excitement wears of and you re-watch this, its not that good. I expected more from a comic-con trailer, and with Wonder Woman I know DC can deliver it.
In the interest of full disclosure, I know absolutely nothing about Wonder Woman AND I opted out of putting myself through Batman V Superman (still a dumb title). Besides that being the case, I can tell you that I am definitely going to see this from viewing this spectacular trailer… The trailer starts off showing Chris Pine and from that moment I’m excited. Chris Pine is a phenomenal action/comedy star and will bring something to this movie that it will need. Humor. Saying though though, I will tell you right now that the joke at the end of the trailer didn’t land, and was just cringe-worthy. BUT, Chris Pines reaction when Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) tells him she was made by Zeus is priceless, so there is hope that it was a fluke or shoe horned it at the end of this bad-ass trailer. On to the bad-assery!.. There was almost no dialogue in this trailer, and what there was was just to make Wonder Woman more awesome! This trailer is 90% her running around battlefields (I actually have a very strong Captain America: The First Avenger vibe from this) deflecting missiles, taking out rooms of people with guns, and using her shield in spectacular ways. Oh! Her suit! This is also one of the coolest suits I have ever seen on a super hero in a movie… I realize I’m nerding all over the place, but we should be excited about that! This is a DC movie, and not even the BIG DC movie with the two most famous heroes in history. This is Wonder Woman, and it finally looks like they are doing things right.
Skiptrace follows Bennie (Jackie Chan) a Hong Kong detective who is tasked to bring Connor (Johnny Knoxville) back to someone who needs him in a road trip style movie where a friendship is built and fights are had.. I like both of these actors a lot in very VERY different ways… They really should not be in a movie together. I don’t see a scenario in which they have good screen chemistry. and. Jackie Chan deserves so much better than the shit show this looks like it will probably be. There were a couple redeemable parts of this trailer that did give me a chuckle, and it is a new twist on a kind-of road trip movie… I just don’t see it working out.
Not as all-star of a cast as I would have assumed for this movie but still really fucking awesome! This trailer is just fun, and no holds barred and if they keep this up for the movie than it will be everything it deserves to be! Denzel as always is nothing but a bad-ass, and Chris Pratt gets better and better in every action movie he is in with his special style and hint of comedy… I love the listing off of the seven guys and their specialty, and though the Kanye song was unexpected and slightly out of place, I liked it! Lets hope the movie keeps true to the trailer! (But please no Kanye in the real movie).
